Hello, You are voting for UNITED STATES
What does the site do?
www.whattheworldbelieves.com contains 10 questions about the nature of the universe and our place in it. When you visit the site it detects which country you are visiting from. If you answer any of the questions your vote is recorded against the country associated with your ip address. This enables us all to see what people in different parts of the world think about these questions.
Who is behind the site?
Just one guy from the UK. The site is independent of any organisation, companies or political parties and there are no hidden agendas.
Why are you doing this?
Just for fun. The site was inspired by www.iftheworldcouldvote.com a site which allowed people from around the world vote on the 2008 Obama Mcain presidential election. Over 800000 people from around the world voted and it was fascinating to see how people in different countries would have voted in the US election given the chance.
I thought it would be interesting to find out what people from different countries thought about some the big questions we all have about the nature of the universe and our place in it. The internet offers a way of doing this. My initial goal is to have 10'000 votes for each question on the site from as many countries as possible. Hopefully people will want to answer the questions on the site and will find the way people voted in thier own and other countries interesting.
How often can I vote?
Once for each question. It is possible to clear you cookies and vote again but a there is script which is run each day that looks for mutliple votes from the same PC as well as specific voting patterns and removes duplicate votes.
Where can I get updates?
You can subscribe to the RSS feed to keep track of updates and events on the site.
Who pays for this?
The google adsense ads displayed on the pages cover the cost of hosting the site.
